MULTIPLE CONSTRUCTIONS INCLUDING DILLION STREET

Dust fills the atmosphere of the southern part of Kirikiri town today, not because of the dry season or lack of rainfall but because of multiple constructions going on around the town. The Nigerian Ports Authority graded the road leading into their terminal (lighterberth terminal). It was a fast work done by a local construction company.
However the road was constructed to suit the heavy duty truck that drives to and fro carrying laden containers from the port.

Moving further south to the gate of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), the atmosphere is dusty and rowdy. The trailers and tankers coming into Kirikiri town through the link bridge raise a lot of dust with their authoritative engines. The policemen and the naval ratings on duty keep on inhaling adulterated and toxic oxygen without their knowledge and they perform their duty well without a protective gear.

The Kirikiri town family way was temporarily reopened to relief the traffic congestion caused by its permanent closure. The inconvenience affected everyone living in Kirikiri town and its environs. It also affected business as the depot was not able to discharge their products to hundreds of tankers lined up both on entry and exit. Some which have already been loaded couldn't move out.

The reopening was only on one lane. FERMA are strategically focusing on the drainage system. The channel that will be underneath the road has been filled and it’s still undergoing constructive process.

Still focusing on the drainage system, FERMA diverted their attention to Dillion Street, as the road was closed. The closure of the street started from Okoduwa street junction to the front of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

The work being done is the same with the work being done on the Kirikiri town family way.  A horizontal division, 2 meters in depth was made on the road in order to create a channel from the gutter on the left to the gutter on the right of Dillion Street.

Due to the construction going on, Dillion Street was empty. Businesses, schools, restaurant, hospitals situated on the street suffered from that, but okada riders benefited a lot. The road will be reopened as soon as work is completed.
Police men were on duty.

Dillion Street and Kirikiri town family way are the two major federal roads in Kirikiri town. Adequate steps are taken daily to put these roads in order.

Our motto still remains... Upgrading Standards.
