The Lifeless being carried away
There
was a ghastly accident involving a Toyota car and a motorcycle which ended up
killing the commercial bike operator and injuring his two passengers on the Kirikiri
link bridge in Kirikiri town, Lagos.
Eye
witness says that the car with registration number (LND-341-BS) was on a top
speed about to overtake another car while the oncoming commercial motorcycle
plying one way was also speeding when the collisions took place. The bike man
sought to whisk away while the vehicle driver also tried but for the loaded
articulated truck (tanker) parked along road discharging petroleum products, this
made the swing over difficult and left both drivers absent choice.
The affected motorcycle
These
tankers parked on the bridge moved swiftly one after the other when the
accident happened and the bridge immediately became unobstructed.
The driver
of the car was said to have vanished after the accident. It was some of the
people who claimed to be his friends that tried to figure out how to take the cadaver
to the hospital.

“These
tankers have caused so many atrocities on that bridge while doing illegal
business on the bridge. This is the only bridge linking Kirikiri town (Oriade
LCDA) to Ajegule (Ajeromi- Ifeolodun LGA). We have no other bridge. Even with a
record of no maintenance on that bridge, it has stood long enough since constructed.
These loaded tankers park there sometimes in two lanes causing series of
accidents every day and further diminishing the bridges life span. The bridge
is at the brink of collapse” A community elder spoke to Kirikiri News after
being briefed of the accident and causes.
