STORY SERIES
…Life in Adia’s home was
happy and peaceful. Adia and her four children lived very well. They ate what
they pleased. They also dressed well. They did not have to think of what it
cost because there was plenty of money to spend.
Adia had two servants who
helped her to sell in the shops. They also helped her at home. The two servants
live in the house with Adia and the children.
The children had almost forgotten
that once upon a time they had a father who lived with them in the house. Adia,
of course, did not forget. She thought about her husband all the time. She
wondered where he was, what he was doing, who was looking after him. She wondered
why he did not even look back, why he did not even come one day to see his
little children. She was sure that her husband had another reason for leaving
me other than the mere coming in of Tesa.
Adia wished her husband can
come back home to see them the new surroundings. She wanted him to see them eat
well, drew well, and have a lot of money. She wanted her husband to join them
and know what it is to be rich.
Eta still went to school.
Her dress was new and clean. She wore a new pair of sandals and looked like the
daughter of a rich mother.
Adia had taken Tesa to
school but she had been told to wait till the beginning of a new school term.
Tesa liked very much to go to school because Eta went to school. She and Eta
could then play together both at school and at home.
Everyday Tesa walked to the
school with Eta. She stopped at the school gate as Eta went in. She saw many
children of her age and many older children swinging, riding the wooden horse,
skipping, singing and marching. She wanted to be there too.
When she came back from
seeing Eta off to school, Tesa went to the shop with Adia. Eta joined them when
the school closed for the day.
One morning Tesa went with
Eta to school but did not return in time. Adia waited for her, yet she did not
come back. She thought that Eta and Tesa were playing on the way. But when she
waited and waited and Tesa did not come, she walked to the school. She was
hoping to meet Tesa on the way but she saw no one like Tesa. She went into the
school to see if she was with Eta still she did not see Tesa. Eta told her that
Tesa had turned back at the gate.
Adia was now worried. She
ran back home thinking that Tesa might have taken another route home. Again Tesa
was not there. Adia was now very alarmed. She raced to the police station and
reported. The policeman…to be continued on Saturday.
