SEND AWAY THE MOCKER

Ishmael was the first son of Abraham born through the house maid, Hagar. He was already a teenager when Isaac was born. But he was later sent away from the house of Abraham. Do you know why? He was found mocking his half-brother Isaac.
Mocking is the practice of teasing, making fun and laughing at other people in a scornful manner.

Many youths are fond of mocking their classmates. They make fun of them because of their weaknesses, physical deformities or even academic challenges. Some students’ caricature their teachers because of the latter’s mannerisms or physical traits. They are fond of giving nicknames to their teachers and classmates. Others even mock their parents and elders for one reason or another.

Mocking is a bad habit. It is also a series offence. A child of God should not be involved in such. Never call your mates by offensive names. Do not tease anybody on account of his physical trait. Do not laugh at other people misfortune and adversity. Remember mockers will be sent away to hell.

Challenge: Love your neighbor as yourself.

Prayer: Lord, help me to refrain from mocking.
