PRISONS SO SLOW WITH SHOPPING MALL PROJECT

The Nigerian Prison Service are slow in the construction of the proposed multipurpose shopping complex to be built along Kirikiri town family way, a source expressed.
The demolition exercise of the most popular tourist and fun spot nicknamed ‘Umunede’ began in March, and on May 17th, 2013 bulldozers, cranes and prison personnels' were used to evacuate shop owners and tenants on that site and promised to finish building in 90 days. The prison authorities have only been able to lay foundations on the vast area of land after 16 months.


Our source made Kirikiri News understand that the multipurpose shopping mall project is worth 200 million naira and has been awarded to the contractors who have only been able to lay foundations and raise some blocks only about 2 feet high in august 2014, also, mark signpost boundaries at Karimu street market letting people know that they have been the awarded the contract.
Also, Kirikiri News gathered that inside the barracks, there is another project worth 9 million naira that only same foundation has been erected since august 2013. What is happening?

The Commandant, Nigerian Prison Service Omene Patricia (CP) and Head of Operations of prisons were not available to answer the question at press time as her phone was switched off and the other not answering at the time of filing this report.
