BUILDING DEMOLISHED IN MAGBESA

Just as 2 houses at the beginning of Ajanlekoko Street was bought and demolished, and several houses witnessed the same fate in Kirikiri town, demolition exercise was once again being unleashed on a building directly beside the Redeemed Christian Church Of God (Door of Hope Parish). This parish was formerly at Abiola Johnson crescent now permanently at
Magbesa street. The building which served and accommodated about 79 people was sold by its landlord for about NGN4M.

Under the dispensation of the new property owner, destruction was the final command and the ever ready Magbesa youth were on ground to ensure that only the remains of the building will be seen by night fall. They had no tool except a sledge hammer and a log of a wood once used for the roofing structure.

The youths worked hard. They perfectly combined merriment with serious work. They were so happy destroying the house, was it because they were paid heavily to do that? If not, then why? Surprisingly, people cheered as the blocks fell. They definitely are celebrating the upgrade process of Kirikiri town.

The house however, shared a direct fence with the church. Members of the church were also present to make sure that their fence is not brought down by the agile youth who are ready to bring down all the buildings on the street if paid.

“The church fence is joined with the building’s fence, and I am here to watch these boys, they might scatter it” an usher in the church lamented.
Many people watched as the building which was formerly their neighbor, friend’s home was destroyed. The landlord gave his tenants a quit notice as pin was not left in any of the rooms before demolition took place.

Attempt to know who bought the house proved abortive. Surrounding neighbors speculate as to whether the house was bought by a church or perhaps by a business tycoon, others say a hotel will be built on the land while some concluded it will be a church. Whatever might be the next building on that plot of land should be something that will create creativity among the youths of Kirikiri town and bring a positive upgrade to Magbesa Street.

Kirikiri town is upgrading it standard daily and houses are being bought and demolished for better structures to stand. Which house will be the next? Watch out.

Our motto still remains... Upgrading Standards.
