LAGOS STATE MINISTRY OF HEALTH FUMIGATES HOUSES

The ongoing Lagos State Ministry of Health fumigation exercise termed Indoor Residual Spraying (IRS) which commenced few weeks ago has been extended to almost every house in Oriade local council development area.

IRS is the application of safe and effective chemical (insecticide) on the walls and ceilings of residential

structures to kill mosquitoes and other harmful insects that are nuisance in the house.

The Lagos State Ministry of Health ensured the exercise took place before the rainy season and should be repeated every six months until the malaria problem crippling the council area is reduced and controlled.

The Lagos State Ministry of Heath also assures the public that IRS is safe. Residents are to cooperate with the spray team, allow them enter you house, keep the spray card safe and provide feedback to health workers on the effect of IRS in their homes, and also inform them of any side effect on any member of the household.

The Chairman of Oriade Local Council Development Area Hon. Sanusi sponsored the printed pamphlet which the IRS team gives the apartment occupant while the spray card was sponsored by Biostat Company.
