OH LIFE "I MUST SURVIVE" (EPISODE NINETEEN)

STORY SERIES
Adia also saw the wild-looking man with blood stains on his dress.
“That’s the man who killed Daddy,” shouted Eta,
“Killed Daddy? Which Daddy” asked Adia.
“Our daddy,” answered Eta. “He cut him with a long knife. There was blood all over Daddy.”

Adia now believed Eta though she did not see how Daddy could be there. She asked the policeman who told her that a man was stabbed badly and had been taken to the hospital.

Adia was now afraid for her husband. She needed answered to many questions but right now she only wanted to know that her husband was alive. Eta was allowed to go with Adia but they did not go back home. They went to the hospital but it was not the visiting hour. A kind nurse allowed Adia in. On the bed she saw a man with head, arms and chest heavily bandaged. Adia knew it was her husband, Amoda. He did not move.

Adia asked the nurse in fear, “Is he dead?”
“No, he is not dead,” the nurse answered. “He has lost a lot of blood and might have died if he had been brought a bit later.”

The nurse advised Adia to go home and return the next day. She hoped that Amoda would be awake by then. But when she came back the following day Amoda was lying down there still, all the same.

On the third day though he moved his legs he was not wide awake. The nurse advised Adia not to disturb him. Adia was however happy now that she knew that her husband was alive.

It was on the seventh day that Amoda was well enough to talk to her. By now Adia had learnt from eta that her father banged at the door when he heard her voice. She could not tell however how he happened to be there.

On each day that Adia went to the hospital though she had taken the children with her, she had gone in alone. She did so on the seventh day.

“Amoda”, she said. “This is you at last. I had given up the hope of ever seeing you again. I had even reared that you were dead. I am happy that you are alive. I don’t know what could have happened to the two children if you had not been there.”

“How are my children,” he asked
“Eta, her brother and sister are well,” answered Adia.
She was careful not to mention Tesa’s name.
“What about my fourth child, Tesa? He asked.
Adia was surprised that Amoda knew her name.
Before Adia asked how he knew, Amoda said, “I heard Eta call her Tesa. Where is she?
“She and Eta are out of there?” Adia answered
“Bring them,” Amoda said

Adia was happy to know that Amoda did not mind seeing Tesa. It was because of this Tesa that he left home many weeks earlier. He had even called her his fourth child. Adia wondered what could have changed Amoda’s mind about Tesa. Perhaps it was the wounds he had received. He must have lost the bad blood in him.

All the same Adia went out and soon returned with Tesa and Eta. She brought them close to Amoda’s bed. Amoda was still lying on his back and could not sit up. He stretched out his hand and held Tesa first.

Tesa had seen Amoda only two times in her life … to be continued on Thursday.
