SHIP DISASSEMBLING TAKES OVER SEA SHORE

Countless number of ships docked at the shore line of the Kirikiri River not just for replenishment or stock up but for dismantling or better still disassembling.

Many of the ships have been bought from their owners as ‘scrap ships’ for this
dissembling purpose by business men and they await to be torn into bits and then either sold as scrap iron or melted into iron or as reports would have it, exported to other countries. This striving business has put food on the table of many families in town and even to the Prison Authorities.

This business locations are well secured by the Prisons personnel’s because they are located in the Prison barracks shore line area of the town.

The many Chinese people seen often are in charge of the business as they have all equipment for work.

About 50-60 million naira is made for one ship dissembling and about 5 ships dock monthly and there are about 5 companies currently in business.

Our motto remains…Upgrading Standards.
