Due to
the previous update about how the prison officials made a secret diversion into
their barracks and charged users for it prior to the ongoing drainage construction
at Dillion Street which happens to be the connection to the link bridge, navy
town, Kirikiri
market and so on, there has been a positive tremendous upgrade
to that effect.
That report
which caused a stir in the Prison Command gave birth to a new idea. The Prisons
have turned that secret diversion into a third gate. This positive turn around
deserves all k-Townies to put their hand together and give a standing ovation to
the entire command and to the commandant who is a woman of valor and also a
member of the Sister Fellowship International (SFI). She is known there as Esco Parquet.
The Nigerian
Prison Service barracks now have 3 gates. The Main gate is at the Bustop, the
second at Shokumbi Street and the third at Dillion Street.
Now, before
you enter the gate, you must state where you are going, your mission and demonstrate
a means of identification. That is real security right? About three armed to
the teeth personnel’s of the Arm Squad Department of the Nigerian Prison
Service are stationed at strategic positions, with one as the questionnaire.
A woman,
who lives at Campsite wanted to pass that gate at 4:15 am but was denied entrance
even if she stated that she was coming from a night vigil at Mazamaza and her
husband is a Captain serving with the Nigerian Navy. The personnel simply told
her “Madam, it is too early and besides if I allow you to pass, the men at the
other gate won’t”. She decided to park there to wait till the day is bright but wasn't allowed.
We must
apply dignity and seriousness in whatever we do. This is called upgrading of
standards. Kirikiri town is upgrading in everything: Security, Roads, Mentality,
Attitude and Intelligence.
Our motto
remains… upgrading Standards.
