At what point did you start appearing on
stage?
It was about the same time I
started off because we had a junior choir in our church which offered me the
platform to feature on stage during church events and musical competitions and
tours.
Could you share your first stage experience
with us?
I can’t really remember the occasion now. But I can remember
vividly that I didn’t experience stage fright or loss of lines like many
artistes usually experience on their first outing. I have always this boldness
that enables me to face any audience with ease. Whenever I mount the stage, I
usually feel the spirit of God descending upon me like slight goose pimples.
And once I experience that, the sky would be my limit.
Was there any occasion that you didn’t feel
such goose pimples on stage?
No. I always pray very well and commit the show into God’s
hands before the event and before mounting the stage.
From your gesture, you seem to be a good
dancer, right?
You are very correct. I’m into dance,
too. I do a lot of dancing – classical and cultural dancing. And as a matter of
fact, I’m a choir conductor too. I’m the choir master of our parish, St Mary’s
Catholic Church,Ajegunle. So, while singing, I dance. And as I dance, my
performance becomes more captivating. And I give God the glory for all His
gifts.
You are an all-rounder then?
That’s why I adopted Ada Jesus, (God’s
Daughter) as my stage name.
Has music been paying your bills?
God has been awesome. And I’m grateful to all the people
that He has been using to bless me and support my career financially and
otherwise. But as an up and coming artiste, I still need a lot more financial
and logistic support from lovers of gospel music to enable me to produce
quality video for my album.
Do you intend to feature any top artiste in
the video?
I am already discussing with some of
them. My mentor, Sister Vision Nwankwo is always there for me. And I am also
discussing with other popular gospel artistes such as Rosemary Chukwu and
Evangelist Amaka Okwuoho aka Chioma Jesus. And I also hope to approach some
Nollywood A-list actors for collaboration. I am a member of Catholic
Entertainers Association of Nigeria (CEAN), and we have many top Nollywood
actors in the group. So, reaching them would be a lot easy for me.
As an artiste who is also a housewife, mother,
dancer and parish secretary, how do you apportion your time to meet up with all
your tasks?
Time doesn’t make itself but man makes time. So, when you
make your time, you can control it. And fortunately for me, my husband is like
my mentor and number one fan. So, he has been so supportive – always helping to
cover up my loopholes. He has been awesome – standing by me through thick and
thin...To be continued tomorrow
