They feel that if certain prayers are made, sacrifices offered and the appropriate Orisa appealed to, a bad ori can be rectified, and a fortunate one preserved. Orunmila, the oracle of Orisa and prophetic 

voice of Olodumare, known to be present when Olodumare confirms and seals the destiny of other Orisa and humans, is often appealed to when an individual seeks the modification of her destiny.

It was to Orunmila, or more directly, to a priest of Orunmila, that Omolafeaye and Awelewa went. They went to Ogagariga, the renowned Babalawo skilled in Ifa mystery. Ifa is the divination system, developed and handed down by Orunmila, through which other Orisa and humans may seek the will and command of Olodumare. The two friends wanted certain things in life. Omolafeaye wanted children, plenty of them. Awelewa preferred wealth and prosperity. She wanted to live to the fullest; to the admiration of all.

Ogagariga brought out all his opon-ifa, the divination tray. He placed it on a cloth on the ground in front of the door where light shone directly on it. By making orita meta, crossroads, on the iyere-osun powder, which he had scattered on the surface of the opon-ifa, he opened the channel of communication between the cosmic realms. Rhythmically tapping the tray with a small staff, the iroke-ifa, he appealed to his predecessors – renowned ancient Ifa priests – for their support and assistance also. Then he cast Ifa to reveal the forces at work in the life of each of the women in turn. Ogagariga had to divine what the two women had come about without their telling it to him. He found out from Ifa that they were seeking to know their destiny.
