JOHNSON’S YARMA-YARMA NIGHT WINS BEST CARNIVAL 2014

The essence of Street Jam/Carnival is believed to create a certain atmosphere of harmony and bliss among residents, also, to unite people of different classes, standards and societal perking order. However, lapses such as alcohol intoxication may lead to a ding-dong between individuals and this might serve as a deterrent to others who disapprove of such a gathering but as majority would say “It is an event that happens only once in a year”.

Kirikiri town Residents and readers over the world voted for the Kirikiri News Best Street Carnival 2014 out of these five listed nominees for a week on all Kirikiri News media platforms. A total of 3126 votes were recorded. Here are the results;

Johnson Street’s Bold carnival 2.0 (Yarma-Yarma Night) clinching the number one spot with 1035 votes worldwide has proved its stance beyond reasonable doubt as the best carnival in Kirikiri town. Their organizational skill, coordination and effort made the event dazzling.

About 500 people were in attendance to watch performances from popular top and fast rising Nigerian upcoming music artists such as;

Immaculate (First female artiste signed in Vivace Records, 2nd runner up MTN Project Fame season 6/ Peak Talent show 2012). She performed her hit track GoGo Baby and other tracks making wave all around the Globe.

2Smart (Signed into Joint-Kingz Recordz popularly known for his hit tracks Bugatti and Out of control featuring Solid Star. With his music, He became a role model to most rising music artists in Kirikiri town)

Music artiste Alaje (Sololo).
One after the other, these artistes performed reputably and entertained the folks present as they enjoyed the joy that accompanied the end of the year season. They all made the event gloomy and syrupy.

Just as the previous version of the bold carnival, Mc Fedricx , DJ trips, DJ Lamix  and DJ Smile mastered the event professionally. People loved the way MC fedricx introduced the artistes, his speeches and his jokes.

Speaking with many who were present at the event, their responses further extolled the events.

“I was impressed with the street jam, there was no fighting, and the decorations on the street with energy saving fluorescent bulbs were amazing, the barbecue, the snooker board, the music and all of it. It was interesting. I was glad to be here even if at some point the fun stopped as the generator had to be replaced” Jane who was invited by her friend from Lekki uttered in excitement as she spoke to Kirikiri News.

“I stay in Kirikiri town and I saw the way they did their road block using Barney and Santa’s costumes. I decided to be there. I also attended other street jams like the ones in Agunbiade Street, Magbesa Street and Karimu Street, they tried too but I like this one better. I enjoyed myself” Ken from Otun street.

However, Agunbiade street Jam known as an official Kirikiri town get-together end of the year party and no artiste performance night made the Second Best, Muti-Ajero carnival; a rapt and expensive ethnic carnival made it as the Third Best while Ikudehinbor Gospel Street carnival and Karimu street carnival made the Fourth and Fifth Best respectively.

We hope to witness a better and peaceful carnival experience in 2015.
