SHOP OWNERS FLEE AS SWIFT OIL TANKER CRUMBLES ON CARDOSO

A tanker belonging to Swift Oil and fully loaded with 33,000 liters of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) aka Fuel collapsed in front of Aminat Convalescent Centre on Cardoso street Kirikiri town as its rear tires totally pulled out of its shaft. The loose tire almost knocked down a woman seated in her shop but for the gutter in front of her, the tires bounced and fell backward on the road.
“It was at 4:15pm and I saw everything. The truck was moving suddenly I started hearing ‘ka ka ka ka’(screeches on the paved road). It was scary, I thought the tanker was going to fall, go up in flames and burn down the whole of Cardoso Street. I was so scared, immediately I took my 2-year-old baby and ran towards the bustop” an eye witness said.
Kirikiri news gathered that there was expeditious action from the Oil Depots Fire Emergency Team as a fire fighting squad was immediately dispatched to the scene and they were on standby. The CDA 1 task force under the presidency of Mr. Sanni Abari was also on ground with their CSO to ensure other road users are diverted and panicking residents calmed and taken far from the accidental site.
After about four and half hours of mechanical work by the engineers, at 8:35pm, the tire was fitted back into the shaft by the mechanics but something unforeseen happened as the mechanic protested loudly for a fair pay. There was a little squabble. There was a commercial bike operator (okada) that resisted to be directed and sped off into the accidental site ignorantly. he received the beating of his life by the task force and his machine battered. The traffic on the Cardoso road was already built as several lined up loaded tankers couldn’t gain exit. The task force swoops into action asking the accidental truck to move away since it has been repaired.
There was no casualty and no damage except for the scratch on the precious fragile interlocking stones on Cardoso road. The truck moved out at 8:57pm.
However, residents blame the accident on the carelessness of the tanker drivers as they fail to check their trucks before moving.

The swift oil depots management was not available for briefing on the accident affecting one of their trucks. There was an accident on the Kirikiri link bridge in June 21st 2014 involving a swift oil tanker. This happened to be the second accident involving a swift oil tanker.
Another development occurred at the Nigerian Prison Barracks as gun shots were heard all over the place. our sources have it that some prisoners attempted preposterous elude but couldn't have their way due to the formidable and reliable response of the Prisons arm squad, Nigeria Army and Nigerian Navy.
