BAHAMAS


These are a chain of British islands in the West Indies. They stretch for about 700 miles from the south eastern coast of Florida as far as the southern tip of Cuba.
The Bahamas cover an area of about 4,404 square lies and have population of about 164,000. There are more than 1000 islands in the chain, but only about 30 are inhabited. Nassau, the capital of the Bahamas is on New Providence Island.

White oral beaches, a warm, sunny climate and beautiful scenery have made the Bahamas one of the world’s most fashionable tourist resorts. There are many brightly colored birds and fish to be seen throughout the islands

Tourism provides most of the income of the Bahamas however, there are some small industries is the production of salt, other exports include wood pulp, tomatoes, cucumbers and crayfish. In, Christopher Columbus became the first European to discover the islands; he probably landed at San Salvador Island.
