Fakande Street is located at the north-western part of
Kirikiri town. It is a street that still thrives from its past prevalent
description. Fakande as the name implies is a family name and the family still
exists.
This catholic acquisition of terra firma by Molade made him treat
the people around him poorly. This however, resulted into a court case between Imore
people and Molade. He lost his possessions to Imore. Apparently, Fakande Street
belongs to the Imore people. “I still have an Imore receipt for the house I
bought” says an elderly man.
Fakande Street has been known since the time when Jakande was
governor, that time Badagry ruled Kirikiri town and Shagari was president.
Fakande and Jakande sound similar right?
Fakande used to have sedulous people. The pure water (sachet
water) factory that used to be situated there in the late 90’s was one of the
pioneers of the business in Nigeria before issues unknown to anyone made it discontinue
further production till today but the owner still lives in Kirikiri town.
There is a school on the street. It is a Muslim school. The
buildings there are mostly bungalows and a story building that stands as the
pride of Fakande Street.
Many aged men live on Fakande Street and they are friendly. The
youths of Fakande Street enjoy playing football.
Fakande Street is T-shaped. The horizontal length is about 85
meters and the vertical is about 65 meters. Fakande has three outlets; they
intersect Tariah Street, Shokumbi Street and Imam Busari Street. Do you know
that cars are not often found on Fakande street?
There are 21 buildings on Fakande Street, 8 business outlets
and a population of 215.
What street should be the
