The Community Development Association (CDA)
has formerly declared war on carelessness as they have officially embarked on a
safety campaign that will last for 7 days.
This campaign began this morning today
being 13th of January, 2014 and will wind-up
on the 20th of
January, 2014. The campaign team consists of the Presidents of each (CDA) in
Kirikiri town. There are 3 CDA’s in Kirikiri town. When asked by a
correspondent of Kirikiri news who followed them on the campaign, the reason
for it, the President CDA 3 Udoji explained that the reason for this campaign
was to sensitize the people concerning the dangers, implication and
vulnerability of a fire hazard.
“The incident that happened at Berger Suya
was caused by an open fire, and we don’t want that to happen in Kirikiri town.”
One of the executives of the CDA2 spoke furiously and passionately.
Many residents, school students,
workers and business men watched the campaign movement which progressed like a
moving train as they ravished every coal stove, open fire, and awakened the consciousness
of drivers who parked and abandoned their vehicles at the side of the road. This
campaign will take effect every morning and evening for a week.
A member of the CDA task force said
that sometime ago in 2013, a tanker carrying oil product tumbled on Airport
Road in Kirikiri town, but for the fact that there was no open fire at that
moment, it did not flame up and the menace was averted by the Grace of God. “We
want to get rid of all open fire in Mosheshe industrial estate, Karimu street, Cardoso
street and all environs where tankers apply, operate and could be located” said
the CDA1 Chief Task Force (CSO) Mr. Yoga.
The campaign will not only caution and
affect open fire alone but also abandoned vehicles on these roads.
Our motto remains…Upgrading Standards.
