This is a large sea lying between southern Europe
and Asia. It is bounded by Bulgaria, Romania, Turkey and Russia. It covers
about 170,000 square miles. The Danube, Dnieper, Don and many other rivers flow
into it. The Black Sea is linked to the Mediterranean Sea by the Bosporus
Strait, the Sea of Marmara and the Dardanelles Strait.

Strait connects the Black Sea to the 14,500-square-mile Sea of Azov.
The Black Sea possibly gets its name from the dark
color of the water when it is covered by thick fogs. It is an important seaway
and fishing region.
