TANKER FALLS ON KIRIKIRI BRIDGE – SOT DEFENDS DRIVER

What fate looks upon the people of Kirikiri town when laden tankers capsize like a misguided boat on the sea day in day out?

In February 2013, there was an explosion involving a tanker carrying PMS at Mosheshe
Industrial Estate. The same year in October, a tanker carrying AGO fell at Airport road close to SOT filling station and not to mention other container laden trucks that fell several times on other major roads in Kirikiri town.

On this catastrophic note, yet another capsizing incident occurred on June 22 involving another tanker carrying PMS.

In the morning at 8 am to be precise, emergency sirens coming from Techno oil, Swift oil, Fatgbems and Lagos State fire fighter vehicles consummated the atmosphere sending panic everywhere. They trooped in their numbers to avert a major potential fire outbreak that would have engulfed the entire NIMASA complex.

Kirikiri news gathered that the driver was busy reigning insults of a smaller vehicle that overtook his laden articulated vehicle while he was negotiating a U-turn on the Kirikiri link bridge. He however, lost control of the vehicle when the wheels of the truck lifted above the ground due to the heavy burden it carried thereby causing it to fall sadistically.

With immediate effect, the PMS content began to spill all over the place crossing and penetrating into NIMASA and reached as far as the gate of NPA. It was the persistent showering of water from the firefighters that ensured maximum measures against an outrage.

It is speculated that the truck belongs to SOT filling station and they have since removed it from the area after draining its content. The driver was immediately taken away from the scene and given aid.

Below are the pictures of the accident.
