COMMUNITY EMPLOYS STREET DOMESTIC WORKERS

The Kirikiri town Community Development Association (CDA) has employed street cleaners. The employed road cleaners comprises of women, and youths, both male and female.

The head of the cleaning team Mrs. Rose who was dressed in her orange reflective vest with a bold ‘CDA1 CLEANER’ decorated all over it, told Kirikiri news that she was employed by the CDA and that they clean the road early in the morning three times a week. She also added that she and other workers are being paid.

“We clean Cardoso Street from start to end three times a week. We begin at 5 am before 'okada' (motorcycle riders) and other human activities commences and we end at 7 am. The CDA pays us; All of us. We throw away the dirt in a large LAWMA bin and we use the sand to fill up the sandy nearby streets. I am happy doing this as a part time job” Mrs. Rose said.

Although not yet completed, the Cardoso road was interlocked in July 2013 by the Depot Owners. The CDA have demonstrated their commitment to serve the community by ensuring the road is maintained.

However, the CDA reserves the right to recruit more road domestic workers. Just in case you need a job. Hurry to the CDA office at Johnson Street.

Our motto remains… Upgrading Standards
