Olofin immediately prostrated himself on the ground there before Orunmila and supplicated, rolling on the ground to further abase himself. He entreated all present to join him in imploring Orunmila to have mercy on him, and to forgive him his lack of charity and ingratitude.

Fellow Babalawo joined Orunmila in piling reproaches upon Olofin. In the end, Orunmila relented and performed the sacrifices for Olofin’s son. The boy recovered. He did not die. But it was only after Esu was satisfied that Olofin had properly performed the ‘ebo etutu’ to appease Ifa for his ingratitude to Orunmila that he agreed to remove his own son from Olofin’s service.

After that, they all lived at peace with each other. Orunmila prospered, and Esu prospered along with him.

Olofin enjoined all moneylenders thenceforth, not to take an Iwofa as security against a loan from a Babalawo if the latter asked for a loan.

“If you cannot make a present of the money he seeks outright, then lend it to him, but, let him repay it as, and when he is able to do so,” he further advised. He reminded all of ifa’s injunction that,

If a person comes to you for help,

Give it freely

You may thereby safeguard your life.
