This is the issue of the gas station staff (pump attendants). If
you have been to the gas station to purchase petrol with a gallon, you will
better understand what is about to be confronted.
Remember to apply the technical trick - 850ml for NGN97 and 1ltr
for NGN103 – The pump attendants sell petrol to the vehicle owners using the
machine reading to further blindfold their negligence.
Imagine someone filling up his Mercedes Benz 230 tank which
consumes about 70litres of PMS. The vehicle owner pays NGN6790 for 70liters
meanwhile he received and ignorantly paid NGN6790 for 59.5liters.
If he knew he would have paid NGN5771.5 – Calculate the loss!
………And the gain!
Now that brief analysis was for cars, there are some people who
cannot afford cars but can afford a generator set. These people cannot drive
their alternative power supply machines from their homes to the gas station to
buy petrol although some generators come with tires but Boy! It isn’t a proper
way to define sanity, so they make use of gallons.
These individuals, mainly children and youths are sent by their
parents to buy petrol so they could at least charge their phones and enjoy
comfort as the nationwide plaque of poor and unreliable power supply is
constantly evident and ever ravishing.
“How much do you want to buy” The pump attendant asks. “NGN500”
the consumer answers.
Immediately, the pump attendant punches the 5-0-0 number input key
on the pumps’ machine. The pump begins to roll and suddenly comes to a
calculated interrupted end devised by the pump
attendant at NGN480 – NGN485.
“Next” shouts the pump attendant as he has already collected
NGN500 from the customer.
Out of mere negligence and I-don’t-know-my-right or perhaps
I-don’t-have-time, the child or sometimes, in fact on many occasions, the youth
and adults leave feeling cheated but will return the next day to buy oil
product in acceptance of their let-them-cheat me, I-don’t-care attitude.
Aside from not giving the consumer the proper liter rate, he or
she is still cajoled to forfeit NGN15-20 for the pump attendant.
The question is: Is the management not aware of this?...to be
continued tomorrow.
