The national conference is ongoing and the committee on devolution of power has already approved the creation of one more state from the South- east to make the
zone at par with others except the Northwest which has seven. How would you assess the progress so far made at the national conference?

Some cynics had thought that the conference will break up or something. But we thank God that the conference has persisted till now, and that they are making good progress. New state is to be created in the South east.
People like me are grateful for that. I can only observe that it is not the first time that agreement has been reached. In the previous conference it was greed that an additional state should be created in the South east, but the people could not agree on where the state should be created from. There were as many as four or five, and even six demands for separate states. And there was no agreement. I do hope that this time around, Ndigbo should try to have one single agreement and agree on the area from where the state should be carved out. If otherwise, we will be back to square one.
