CHRISTMAS SEASON AND DRYNESS – a certain fellows’ observation (FINAL PART)

Before the 11th month of every year, beautiful and intense decorations of the streets, roads, buildings, offices, homes, cars, trees, and even personal effects are noticeable signals to usher in the Christmas season. One question; where are the decoration items? Sweetheart, they are there but are very expensive that I can’t even negotiate a pittance.

Joyous songs of the Christmas season such as ‘we wish you a merry……’ Felix navi dad…’ on the first day of Christmas my ……..’ Santa clause is coming…..’ are hardly heard in such times anymore. What happened? My fellow Nigerians will say ‘wetin dey happen na’.

Heartwarming words such as ‘Compliments of the season’, Merry Christmas in advance, May the season bring you happiness and joy, ‘Where will you spend your Christmas’, I can’t wait for Christmas’, and so on are not even heard anymore.

Slashing sales promo with highly reduced percentage worth more than 30 percent off good and services of many kinds are beginning to get extinct as percentages read less than 2% off but yet still highly acknowledged as ‘bonanza’. Some call it ‘the best Christmas bonanza ever’.

Hmmmm. Maybe I should just agree with this fellows’ observation or maybe not. We all ponder.
Nigerians might have taken the Christmas season more seriously if the likes of Amadioha, Oduduwa and ancient emirs were the reason for the celebration and the world follows it.

Terms such as Ama season, Odu season may just be the end of the years’ Christmas season of the world.

Have we forgotten the word called happiness? Or did we lose consciousness of the word Hope?

One word let us not let anything destroy the happiness, love, unity, care; hope that the Christmas season has been known to bring with it.

There will still be more and more and more Christmas seasons until we exit this world to the great beyond….. So what is the fuss then?

I drop my pen to save some ink for our certain fellow.
