The Easter day emerged with a soothing weather
condition that seemed conducive not minding the howling wind and light showers in
the morning. This weather prerequisite however didn’t stop the St. Joseph Catholic’s
Church from having its yearly Easter procession.
The Easter celebration is the period set aside to remember the suffering, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. This year’s procession was like chalk and cheese from last years’. The procession was attended by almost all the members of the church. There were estimated to be about 480 people.

The procession drama depicted the bible
story of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. How he was beaten, tortured by the
Roman soldiers while he carried his own cross with which he will be crucified
upon.
The members of the Catholic Youth Organization
of Nigeria, Kirikiri chapter made no mistake in their acting. They even made
sure Mary and Jesus looked exactly like the act in the movie ‘Passion of the Christ’
and even the blood on Jesus’s face and body seemed real.
Their different costumes looked satisfactory
except for the costumes of the Roman soldiers which lacked shoes/sandals.
As they marched along the Cardoso road,
many people watched them. Some also viewed from their balconies. Road users
understood the reason why the road was jammed and many who watched were able to
imagine the suffering of Jesus Christ.
We look forward to next year’s Easter’s
procession.
Our motto remains..
