These mountains lie in the southeastern United
States. They extend for about 650 miles in the southwestern part of the Appalachian
mountain range. From around Carlisle, Pennsylvania, the Blue Ridge Mountains
pass through
parts of Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee, and northern Georgia. The Blue Ridge range contains the Black Mountains, the Great Smoky Mountains and the Unaka Mountains.
