Bovas oil management declared last
week that Boko haram threatened to bomb their oil tank farm and in this same
manner they ensured that the Community Development Association (CDA) was employed to
keep watch. However, residents of the
town disagree on that notion and
suggested that the federal government gains full knowledge of the fresh Boko
haram threat on their numerous facilities located on the shores of Kirikiri
town to be on the safer side.
Kirikiri news gathered from a source
that the CDA executives attended a meeting in a top class hotel on the island
to supposedly discuss the matter with the Oil Depot Owners. Meeting reviews was
however not disclosed but according to the same source the sum of NGN 7000 was
presented to every member present. There were about 40 in all. The Divisional
Police Officer (DPO), Kirikiri town division was among those present at the
meeting.
It is believed that since the CDA are
non-executive councilors, by the standard service code, they ought to represent
the community to ensure safety for residents.
Upgrading standards…
